Alexa Keckler certainly left her mark as the Muhlenberg women’s head volleyball coach, and now as first year head coach at Lehigh she appears to be on the same track. Despite having just three seniors on the team, the Lehigh volleyball team has yet to lose this season. The women knew that they had a lot of talent, but sometimes things can get tricky when you bring in a new head coach. So far, that has not been the case. The Mountain Hawks took part in the Crosstown Invitational this weekend and swept their opponents improving to 6-0 on the year for the first time since 1979. It is also just the third time in program history and the Mountain Hawks are the only undefeated Patriot League team.
Lehigh faced four opponents in the Invitational, sweeping three of them. "We're pretty excited about where we are," said Keckler. "We were able to get a lot of kids on the court to see what they're able to offer us, so we're definitely excited about the weekend and the great start for sure. More than anything, seeing how the team responds to adversity and seeing how the team bounced back from some things this weekend was definitely very telling." – via Lehigh’s website
Now I know the season is just getting underway, but it certainly seems that they are already clicking. I covered Keckler several times last year at Muhlenberg and she is a great coach, so honestly I am not surprised at the start. However, as all athletes know, it’s not how you start – it’s how you finish.
