Well it’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again – “win or go home,” “do or die.” No team wants to see their season come to an end, and that's been evident in some of these exciting playoff games that we've been covering here at TV2 Sports; but unfortunately that's the name of the game. Tuesday night was no different. Moravian Academy and Southern Lehigh met up on the soccer field at Salisbury in the Colonial League semi-finals. The Lions entered as the #3 seed and came in off of an OT win over Palisades in the quarters. The #2 Spartans had a first-round bye. Despite being the favorite in this one, the Spartans suffered their lone loss of the year at the hands of the Lions. So this was going to be a good one.

Eight and a half minutes into the game the Spartans found themselves in the same position as the regular season. They were trailing 1-0 after a miscommunication, or possibly a bad pass, between the defender and goalkeeper. This made for an easy wide-open goal for Lauren Reid, who capitalized. From this point however, the Spartans were not messing around. They controlled the rest of the half, not allowing the Lions to get off another shot. While it took some time for the Spartans offense to find the net, it was inevitable that they would. A beautiful goal by Natalie Morgan tied things up before the half end.

The second half wasn’t much different. Eight and a half minutes in, this time it was the Spartans scoring the go ahead goal. Kaya Mobley headed the ball towards the net, which was deflected by the keeper, Isabella Touzeau charged the rebound which resulted in another lose ball and this time Mobley was able to finish the third attempt on the right side, while the keeper was on the left. That goal was the difference. Both teams had one more legit opportunity to get on the board, but things would stay the way they were.

The Spartans are headed back to the Championship on Thursday night at 7:30pm where they will attempt to win their 5th straight League title. They will go up against Northwestern, who defeated Salisbury 2-1 in the other semi-final. The Tigers are the #1 seed in the tournament, and are a very good team. It will be an interesting game as the Spartans are not used to the formation the Tigers bring at them, however they did have success in the first meeting. Southern Lehigh defeated Northwestern 2-1 in the regular season. Good luck to both!
