The 2018 season has started in a great way for both the Kutztown University and Muhlenberg College football teams. Each school is off to a 4-0 start. And both have worked their way into the national rankings.
Kutztown dominated Bloomsburg 44-10 on Saturday evening. The Golden Bears find themselves ranked 23rd in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division 2 top 25 poll. It is the first time KU has been ranked since September 2012.
Kutztown's next game is Saturday night at East Stroudsburg. The biggest game for the Golden Bears appears to be October 27, when they host 13th-ranked West Chester at Andre Reed Stadium.
The Mules, under first year head coach Nate Milne, are also coming off a convincing home win this past weekend. They dismantled previously unbeaten Franklin & Marshall 42-21 at Scotty Wood Stadium. Muhlenberg is now ranked 24th in this weeks d3football.com
top 25 poll. Muhlenberg has sole possession of first place in the Centennial Conference.
The Mules will play their next two games on the road, starting this week at Ursinus. The huge match-up for the Mules will also be October 27, when they travel to Baltimore to take on Centennial powerhouse Johns Hopkins.
Lehigh Valley Sports Scene will have you covered for both of these nationally ranked teams. Look for a preview of Muhlenberg-Ursinus later this week and we'll have highlights of KU-East Stroudsburg next week.
