Well it’s hard to believe that it's already that time of year for fall sports. The regular season has already wound down for high school athletics, which are now beginning districts. And college sports are not far behind. Several schools have been celebrating senior night over the past few days, and Muhlenberg is no different. The Mules hosted McDaniel on Friday night in field hockey and let's just say the celebrations from before the game picked right up after.
The Mules entered the night with a 5-2 record in the Centennial Conference - they left the field 6-2 and had clinched a playoff berth. The playoff appearance will be the teams fifth in six years (they did not reach last year). The team still has two more regular season contests before they can shift their focus to the postseason. The dramatic victory came in double OT with no time left on the clock, and it also brought the Mules back to .500 overall on the year. Sitting at 7-7, they have now won every game by just one goal.
The Mules are still a tad young overall, and only graduate three seniors. They didn't have that strong start to the year as they had hoped; but just like last year they seem to be hitting their stride in October, winning four of their last six games. This year, however, it comes at the right time as they look to make a postseason run.
