The Valley Preferred Cycling center said “so long” to another successful season this weekend as our cycling community took part in the Fall VeloFest. So, I think it’s perfect timing for me to say my official “thank you” to the concrete crater that I was lucky enough to call home for 12 weekends this summer.
Valley Preferred Cycling Center, thank you for welcoming me with open arms into your family. When I first received this assignment at the beginning of the summer I was pumped up. My first live broadcasts with TV2! I couldn’t wait for our first weekend. That being said, I had a lot of work to do. Before the World Series of Bicycling, the most cycling I had watched was the Tour de France and well, track cycling isn’t quite like the road cycling I had seen on TV. Everyone from the riders to the volunteers were so incredibly friendly and willing to help out a newbie in the track cycling world.
I cannot thank the cyclists enough. As I watched trackside on Friday nights, I fired questions right their way and the riders could not be more gracious in explaining to me the technicalities and strategies of their sport. Cyclists, you are some of the humblest, most genuine, talented athletes I have ever met. I cannot wait to continue to follow your journeys as your continued success brings you all across the world. I think it’s safe to say I am track cycling’s new and biggest fan.
Valley Preferred Cycling center, thank you for being my favorite second home-I cannot wait for next year!
