The Saucon Valley girl’s lacrosse team is having a tremendous year, sitting at 10-2 on the season. With four games left in the regular season, the Panthers are putting themselves in a great position for the District 11 post-season.
A large part of the Panthers’ success this year is credited to freshman Maria Donahue. She’s’ totaled 27 goals so far this season. Most recently, Donahue put up 6 against Freedom in their 13-10 victory this Monday, a career high for her.
Saucon Valley head coach Jane Hoff told me Monday she knew coming into the season that Donahue had the potential to make an impact. Coach Hoff helps out with the 7th & 8th grade teams and Donahue’s talents caught her eye. The freshman is a three sport athlete, starting on the soccer team and qualifying for the District 11 championships in swimming earlier this year. “She is an incredible athlete,” Hoff said.
Maria told me she credits to a lot of her success to are her teammates. “I felt so welcomed, and I think that plays such a big factor in what we’re able to do,” she said. That comfort and acceptance has led not only to the freshman’s personal success, but overall team success as well.
