As I have expressed before, I am a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan. We are not used to losing. This however, does not mean that I am going to sit here all disgruntled and bitter. Instead I am going to be thankful because as they say, all good things come to an end.

Back to back Stanley Cup championships, nine straight playoff series wins, and a lot of bragging rights. I have worn the same far to small penguins t-shirt for every single postseason game since the start of the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs. This year, I didn’t, which my superstitious self will forever regret.

This beautiful run has given me memories that will last a lifetime. From forming a special connection with my father over our mutual love of the team, to attending their 2016 championship parade, the Penguins have given me an amazing past couple years.
While I didn’t get the chance to attend the 2017 parade, what I did get was one heck of a series against the Nashville Predators, and I got to say “defending back to back Stanley Cup Champions for a year.

This season was weird. Everyone was hoping and expecting a three-peat but the realist in me knew how difficult that would be. Not a single NHL team has been able to pull off winning three straight Stanley Cups since the New York Islanders won four straight from 1980-83. That was 35 years ago, long before I, and the entire 2017-18 Penguins roster was even born.

So no, I am not mad, I am not disappointed, I am just thankful.
