I’ve been talking about the Desales Women’s basketball team all season. From the first time I saw them I knew they would be special and I continued to keep track of them throughout the year. Although I didn’t get to see them in action as much as I would have liked, I made sure to follow their success. And what a year it's been for them. While their early season could have been a concern for many, wondering when they will burn out this team just keeps on chugging along. Over the weekend, the team won two more games to advance to the NCAA DIII Sweet 16, for just the second time. However, it’s not just the fact that they keep winning – it’s how they are doing it. Even in the NCAA tournament they are rolling past their opponents and breaking records as well.

The Bulldogs are currently 27-2, and have won 22 straight overall and 21 at home, tying the school record for consecutive home wins. 27 wins ties the school-record for wins and equals the best-ever record posted in a season (27-2.) Senior Morgan Birmelin also made history in the second win of the weekend; Birmelin now has 642 assists in her career, surpassing the prior mark of 640.

The #10/15 Bulldogs will travel to Brunswick, ME for the NCAA Sweet 16 round which beings on Friday evening. There they will face Ithaca College at 5:00pm. Should they win they will play on Saturday night at 7:00pm. The Bombers are 24-5.
