It’s not uncommon for teams to tell you that they are confident in their squad heading in to the season, or that they believe they have a good shot at making noise. After all, what’s one to think if they were to say the opposite? Well, the Muhlenberg men’s lacrosse team is no exception. Heading into the year the squad was very optimistic, and rightfully so as the Mules returned 4 of their top 5 goal scorers.
Now, I know the year is young but so far things have been nothing but peachy for the team who is currently sitting 7-0. The Mules have been showcasing those offensive skills, winning all but two games fairly easily so far. Their last outing was no exception as the Mules cruised past rival Moravian 16-2 on St. Patrick’s Day, giving them their best start in program history. Currently, Muhlenberg is just one win away from tying the school record of eight straight victories.
The defense hasn’t been too shabby either this season, and again they showed no mercy over their rival. It was only the 8th time in program history, that the Mules have only given up 2 goals are fewer.
The Mules will look to keep their run going tonight when they travel to FDU-Florham. It will be their final matchup before conference play begins. And as we all know that is when the Mules will have their true test.
