The Desales University women’s lacrosse team is only in their second season. So it is no surprise that the Bulldogs were picked 7th out of 8 teams in the MAC Freedom pre-season poll. However, that is not the focus of the team. Chances are the Bulldogs will not be winning a championship this year, so it’s the small steps that matter.  For instance, the team has already broken several records:

They’ve already scored more goals in a game (23) than they did all last season

Freshman Eilis McCall tied the program record for goals in a game with 6 vs. Gwynedd-Mercy

Freshman Rachel Sheubrooks was outstanding in goal, breaking the single-game record with 17 saves

And, the team made it two wins in a row on March 17. While that may not sound like a great accomplishment it certainly is something I’m sure the team is excited to build off of. In their inaugural season the Bulldogs only won one conference game, but with a year under their belt they can certainly get a few more in the record book (which begins April 7).  And these out of conference games are all stepping-stones leading up to that.

The Bulldogs have a younger team with 10 freshmen, however they do return eight starters, which includes 4 of their top scorers and it appears that the team may be beginning to click. In just their last two outings, they have combined for 37 total goals. Obviously the season is young and a lot can happen, but the team is showing that the competiveness and talent is definitely there.
