The Norco Legion Playoffs are kicking off Monday July 9, with seven teams from the North and South divisions getting a chance to compete for a league championship. The top seed will be Nazareth, who had an outstanding year in the North Division after finishing 16-2 overall. Nazareth's solid season was highlighted by one of the league's top offenses but its most important contributor to the stellar season was its defensive prowess, allowing a league-best 30 runs through 18 games. Battling a top the regular season standings was The Wanderers who finished just a game and a half back of Nazareth for the top spot in the playoffs. The No. 2-seed Wanderers team scored a league-high 130 runs through its 18 games while finishing 14-3-1 overall. Northampton as the No. 3-seed will be a tough test in the postseason as well, they are one of just two teams to defeat the regular season champion in Nazareth this season, and have found themselves in some tight battles with them during their other meetings too. Hellertown is back in the postseason and is looking to defend its league championship from last season, they will be the 4th seed and will take on the 5th seed in Freemansburg in the first round of the playoffs. Freemansburg is a team that got off to a very slow start when they found themselves 2-9 more than half way through the season, but rebounded in time to win 7-straight ball games to secure the 5th-seed. They're probably the hottest team going in the league right now and will certainly be a challenge for the reining champs in Hellertown. Elsewhere in the playoff bracket is the No. 6 seed in East Stroudsburg who will face off with Northampton in a first-round matchup. Bankos also qualified as the 7th-seed and they'll take on The Wanderers in the first round. The top seed in Nazareth is the only team that has a first-round bye where they'll wait for the winner of the Hellertown-Freemansburg series. Each first round series will be a best-of-three set with the top-seeded hosting Game 1 and if necessary a Game 3. All of the games are scheduled to be back-to-backs on Monday and Tuesday nights with Game 3's on Wednesday as needed.
