The Reading Hot Stovers will hold their annual banquet Thursday, January 17, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in center city Reading. Cocktail Hour begins at 5:30 PM and the banquet starts at 6:45 PM. The Hot Stovers have been holding this event for nearly 60 years. They recognize the best baseball and softball teams, players and scholar-athletes in Berks County.
Two former major league players and one current big leaguer will be the featured speakers for the evening. There will also be a variety of raffles and auctions throughout the banquet.
MLB Network analyst Dan Plesac will make his first appearance at the Hot Stovers banquet. The lefty reliever pitched in 1,064 games over 18 seasons. He pitched for the Phillies in 2002 and 2003. Plesac recorded 158 saves and was a three-time All-Star. He is very entertaining on MLB Network.

Playing for the Reading Phillies, Luzinski was the 1970 Eastern League MVP thanks to 33 homers and 120 RBI. He won the Roberto Clemente Award in 1978 for his sportsmanship and community involvement.
Lou Trivino just finished his rookie season as a reliever with the Oakland A's. Trivino attended Upper Bucks Christian School and played collegiately at Slippery Rock. Oakland drafted him in the 11th round in 2013. The hard throwing 6-5 right-hander pitched in 69 games for the A's in 2018. He was 8-3 with four saves and a 2.92 ERA.
