The Muhlenberg women’s basketball team are off and running improving to 7-0 this past weekend with a road win at Johns Hopkins. It wasn’t easy as the Mules rallied late and won in overtime 69-64. The team is off to the fourth 7-0 start this decade.

As demonstrated in a more lop-sided home win November 30th 73-49 over Dickinson, this may one of the most deep squads under head coach Ron Rohn since his first season 2001-2002. Guard Brandi Vallely leads an unselfish backcourt that also gets point production from Rachel Plotke. Both are seniors, Vallely leads active NCAA women’s basketball players, all three divisions, with her careerassists-per-game average of 8.00. Throw in the men’s players and she is third. Senior forward, Chelsea Gray of Nazareth, is the recipient of many of Vallely's assists underneath.

Muhlenberg went into the last week of November ranked 22nd in the first poll of the current season. Before the Dickinson game .the Mules put together back-to-back wins by at least 40 points over Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore for only the 2nd time in 23 years in the Centennial Conference. The other time happened last season.

Junior Carley Hamilton is molding into a fine post player to complement Gray in the front court contributing a career-high 14 rebounds at Johns Hopkins. Also in that game Vallely finished one rebound shy of a triple double with 16 points, 10 assists and nine boards. Plotke had a season-high 22 points. Gary had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Muhlenberg has won the last three Centennial Conference championships. Don’t be surprised if four in a row happens down the road.
