Football has been back on a national level for a few weeks now with the return of the NFL via the preseason.  Some people may look at that as the sign that football season is upon us, myself included, but here in the Lehigh Valley, football is officially back.
Local high school football will kick off at the end of the week with the region's teams lacing up their pads and snapping on the chinstraps as early as Friday night, and I for one cannot be more excited. Here at 2Sports we have been bringing you updates on the local happenings with our area's local football programs including key players, top storylines, newest additions and departures for the last week or so, but Friday night we get to see how it all plays out on the gridiron for the first time since December and the first of many times until the upcoming December. As a new reporter here on Sports Scene, this will be my first experience covering football here in the Lehigh Valley, with the exception of the McDonalds All-Star game back in July. I am more than ready not just in the aspect of covering the weekly storylines at practices and games, but for the atmosphere of high school ball on Fridays and Saturdays.
After being away for four years while enrolled in college in western Pennsylvania, one of the things I missed the most about this area was being able to catch some of the best high school football in the state on a weekly basis. Now that I'm back I couldn't be more thankful to be home, if you're new to the area or haven't been in touch with the football in the Valley, this would be a great year to get yourself into it. Plenty of great storylines and scenarios are sure to play out as the season rolls on. High school football in the Lehigh Valley is one of the best things around, traveling across the Valley and cheering on your school or local team is a way of life for many residents of the area, and I'm looking forward to taking it all in with those fans each and every week here at 2Sports.
