That was Stu Ingraham's description of Cole Miller after the Northwestern grad won the Lehigh Valley Open. Ingraham played both rounds with the recently turned 22-year old, and knows talent playing in 42 tour events and 11 majors. Miller was hoping to follow that up with a victory in the Pa. Amateur but lost to one of his PSU teammates. He'll shrug it off and will now get ready for the biggie; the US Amateur, later this month at Riviera.
Miller has the poise and all facets of the game of golf to become the first area golferto make it to match play, since Alex Knoll in 2005. How exciting that would be! Add his impressive play in the British Amateur and this is turning out to be quite a summer for Miller.
Turning pro after his senior year at Penn State may be a well-timed decision by someone who knows when to make the leap.
