One of my Sunday night rituals is checking the weather for the upcoming week. I don’t know when I started doing it, but I just like to have an idea of what I can look forward to in the week. Especially now with spring sports, I like to know what games could possibly be affected by bad weather.
After the downer of seeing that we’re expecting snow (again) on Tuesday, I saw a glimmer of hope for this weekend. 78 degrees on Saturday! Is this real?! Break out the shorts and flip flops everybody!
As excited as I am for the warmer weather to come, I know I am not the only one. The past few weeks, so many of us reporters have found ourselves talking with coaches and players about how the weather is affecting them. Baseball, softball, and lacrosse games have been postponed and athletes have had to play in less than ideal spring weather conditions. Baseball and softball especially have had to hold practices in the parking lot because they haven’t been able to get on their fields. Yes, colder weather does naturally come with the start of spring sports, but this season we have especially had to deal with more snow and freezing rain than usual, and I think we’re all ready to it to end.
I know this warmer weather will bring happier spirits. I know I certainly am excited to shed the extra blanket and gloves that I have been bringing along with me!
