The Whitehall boy’s volleyball team has yet to lose a match this season. They are currently 8-0, but that is something they expected. The Zephyrs are an experienced team. They returned every starter from a season ago and those starters know the feeling of pain. They know how it feels to lose. Whitehall has had to accept the runner-up title in the EPC & District XI for the past two years to Emmaus.
The Zephyrs will have their first shot at revenge on Thursday when they welcome in the Green Hornets, however they are going to have to play better then they did on Friday night if they want to get the W. The Green Hornets lost some key players from a season ago, however head coach Ken Dunkle knows how to reload and he has his Hornets sitting undefeated as well.
I watched the Zephyrs play on Friday night against Northampton. The team kept their record in tact, but that doesn’t mean they were happy with their performance. The K-Kids handed the Zephyrs their first “set” loss, winning the match 3 sets to 1, but in a way this was good for them. Now the pressure is off. The Zephyrs looked like two different teams in the match, especially in the second set. The Zephyrs handed Northampton that set. They looked like the team from last season, where countless mistakes and service errors doomed them. But then they bounced back in set 3 winning 25-9.
The Zephyrs had an off night, it happens to everyone. But what’s important is that they were able to bounce back and still get the victory.
