IVERSON CLASSIC

I know it’s been a little while since I’ve written a blog, but I’ve just been so busy! First, I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! It turned out to be a beautiful day!

Well as I said, we’ve had such a busy week. Between spring cleaning, practices, doctors appointments (my daughter no longer needs a sling!) my husband going to the Sixers game, visiting preschools (we decided we’re going to send my son to Pre-K next year) and finally, we took my son to the Iverson Classic last night at Souderton High School. This is the second year in a row they’ve held the classic practically in our backyard, and being that our son loves sports so much we thought he would enjoy this, which he did!

The Iverson Classic is run by Allen Iverson (obviously) but he gets a lot of help from former NBA players and the event showcases the top high school players around the country. On Wednesday, some of the guys take part in a 1-on-1, 3-on-3, 3-point contest and of course, a dunk contest. The dunk contest was clearly what everyone was there to see. On Friday night the guys will play in an All- Star game, which I believe tickets are still available if anyone is interested. Cole Anthony, son of Greg Anthony who is a former NBA player and current TV host, is at Souderton. There is also the #1 ranked player in the country Anthony Edwards, University of Kentucky commit Kahlil Whitney and so many more.

The night was very entertaining, and it was a really neat experience for my son to see some of these guys, who he will be watching on TV next year. He clearly had a great time, and the players put on a show. It’s amazing to think they are just in high school. The highlight for Tommy was Temple commit, Josh Pierre-Louis , who dunked over three kids!

Of course he had to come right home and have a “dunk contest” on his little tikes net, my husband and I don’t have the heart to tell him he probably won’t be tall enough to dunk in the future! But, overall it was a really enjoyable night for him, and we will be going back if it’s at Souderton again next year!
