Well at least one team at Lafayette College is on a winning streak. I’m just kidding more then one is on a roll, just not the football team. But lets talk about field hockey. The Leopards pulled off a weekend sweep, thanks to the offense, which scored a total of 8 goals in two games. Incredibly, three goals would have been plenty as the defense only allowed one. The two wins improved the Leopards record to 4-1 before they open up conference play at Colgate on the 16th and the women are just getting started. It’s exciting to see the young talent start to step in to their roles, take for instance Grace Angelella. The freshman has scored three goals already this season. While sophomore Sam Di Maio posted two assists in their last outing and sophomore Caroline Turnbull tacked on another goal. On the defensive end, it’s just a sophomore in goal (Sarah Park) and she has only allowed three goals in five games.
The Leopards are in a good place right now. They are sharing the ball on offense, which has allowed seven different players to finish. They’ve won two straight, which is always nice to do as you head in to conference play. However, they will face their first true test on Saturday, with a young team, in their Patriot League opener versus the Raiders.
