To shut down Parkland senior captain, Brooke Schutter, is nearly impossible. Containing her is probably what most opponents hope for. Schutter, the league MVP and Parkland’s leading scorer for another year, was the difference maker last night in the Trojans 3-2 EPC semi-final victory. The Duquesne bound forward, assisted the first goal of the night and scored the other two over rival Emmaus. While the Green Hornets could not seem to find an answer for Schutter in the first half, the second was a different story. The Green Hornets were able to get a late tally with 3:10 remaining in the first, which fueled their fire for the second. It was the first time this season that the Trojans did not control the play in the second half. They had to deal with the best that Emmaus had to offer for 40 minutes, and the team found themselves now only winning by one with 26:19 to go in the game. The Green Hornets did not back down and not only did they keep Schutter off the board; they kept the entire offense from re-extending their lead. Unfortunately for Emmaus, the team would never be able to net another falling 3-2 in the semi’s; but their season is not over. The Green Hornets will play in Districts next week and who knows a fourth meeting is more then likely.
As for Parkland, the team will go for their 4th straight league title on Thursday. Hoping to cap off their perfect 16-0 league season. The Trojans will face Easton, who they defeated 4-2 in the regular season.
