NLCS PREVIEWS

My guess is the Los Angeles Dodgers enjoyed the five game battle between the Cubs and Nationals. The two teams beat up on each other before Chicago won a marathon deciding game in D.C. Thursday night. The Cubs and Dodgers will now meet in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series.

The Cubs will have to kick in the adrenaline to start this series. The opener at Dodger Stadium will be the third game in four days...in three different time zones. They have to be a little worn out mentally and physically at this point. Their pitching is a bit of a mess while the Dodgers have been able to sit back and get everything in order. Normally, I don't like long layoffs for baseball teams but LA may benefit here.

Chicago closer Wade Davis, recorded a gutty seven-out save in the clincher against the Nationals. The rest of his bullpen mates will need to be much better in the next series. Getting some consistent starting pitching would be a huge plus for the defending champs. The Chicago offense isn't totally clicking right now but what the Cubs did so well in the NLDS was taking advantage of mistakes made by the opponent.

The Dodgers won four of six regular season contests with the Cubs. The two teams combined to score just 33 runs (11 by the Cubs) but they hit 13 homers (eight by the Dodgers). Chicago hit .191 against LA pitching while the Dodgers mustered just a .207 average against the Cubs.

Los Angeles has been the best team in the National League. The Cubs, perhaps, have a little magic going after breaking their long World Series drought last year. I think the Dodgers are the better team all around. I'll pick LA in 6 games.
