DSU FIELD HOCKEY CONTINUES TO MAKE HISTORY

It’s been a good year for the Desales University fall athletic teams. It has been a record setting year for the field hockey team in particular. The Bulldogs earned their first-ever ECAC Tournament berth yesterday morning and will travel to Widener in the Quarterfinal round tomorrow night. The team has already set a few other records this year.  12 is the number of games they have won, which is the most in a season. The women also came away with their first EVER postseason victory over FDU-Florham in the MAC Freedom semi-finals, which advanced them to their first ever Championship game. Unfortunately the Bulldogs would see their run end against Misericordia, but it goes without saying that the team is thrilled with the strides they have taken this season. Now they have a chance to leave their names in the record books once again. The Bulldogs have already faced Widener this season and only fell 1-0. The Pride will be the 2 seed in its pod, with the Bulldogs being a 3 so the win is very capable.

The Pride is making their first ECAC Championship appearance since 2006 (a team I was on, and man does that make me feel old!!) The winner of Wednesday’s game will advance to the semifinals where it will take on the winner of FDU-Florham and Arcadia on Saturday. Obviously, the Bulldogs need to take it one game at a time, however the potential of playing FDU-Florham, a team they just beat, must make the girls feel pretty good.

Good Luck!
