You've heard the expression "it's never over till it's over" or "it's never over till the fat lady sings." The EPC and Colonial League playoffs have seen some teams come back from huge deficits to win softball and baseball games this past week to either advance or win a championship on the heels of such a momentum swing.
Take Northwestern which experienced both ends of such games on the same night. The baseball team trailed Southern Lehigh 10-4 going into the top of the 7th in the CL semifinals Tuesday before scoring 7 runs in the frame to stun the Spartans and move on to the championship which they lost 1-0 to Notre Dame. Also Tuesday, the Northwestern softball team led favorite Bangor 7-4 going into the bottom of the 7th but the Slaters scored 4 to win 8-7. Bangor found itself once again looking into the abyss Thursday in the softball final with two five-run deficits, the second trailing Salisbury 11-6 after 5 innings. The Slaters scored 5 runs in the 6th to tie...then scored the game winner in the 7th for their 3rd league crown in 4 years. In terms of come from behind wins, those may be hard acts to follow in Districts. Maybe the best is yet to come.
