Well it didn’t take long for Lafayette College to realize that Theresa Grentz was not the answer to their problem. Two years is all the Leopards needed to see the program was going nowhere fast. In fact it hasn’t in a long time; like a really long time. The women’s basketball team hasn’t had a winning season in 21 years and they have never been to the NCAA tournament. While the men haven’t been much better lately, Head Coach Fran O’Hanlon does have that 2015 Patriot League Title in his back pocket.
Grentz finished her career 10-51 overall, and 6-30 in conference play. Grentz will be replaced by an assistant coach, offensive coordinator, and recruiting coordinator but never head, Kia Damon. Damon is the 7th Head Women’s Basketball Coach in Lafayette history, and brings 19 years of coaching experience with her. While at Penn State she helped bring in four top-20 recruiting classes. In her first year of coordinating the offense at Cincinnati she helped lead the Bearcats to their first winning season since 2007. But head coach is a whole new ball game and brings on a lot more responsibilities. Let’s hope for the Leopards sake she can start making a change.
Best of luck coach Damon!
