Rider Men's Soccer Team Can't Make It Through The Forrest

Lehigh University Men’s Soccer junior, Mark Forrest, is letting the league know that he is back and he has not lost any of his mojo from the past two seasons. Forrest, who led the Patriot League with 11 goals as a freshman, was also a contributor (along side Doyle Tuvesson) for 50% of the team’s total points last season.  He led the team in goals for the second straight year. So how does he open up this year? Oh, just with his third hat trick of his career. NBD! Well I guess I should mention those three goals gave the Mountain Hawks their season opening 3-2 win over Rider. That is pretty impressive, especially considering the junior only took 4 shots on goal. While Lehigh did win that match, they did go on to fall 1-0 against George Washington in their next outing making them 1-1 on the very young season. Unfortunately the preseason schedule doesn’t seem to get any easier, with Ohio State up next. But, the tough competition may be just what the Mountain Hawks need if they want to go a little further in the Patriot League postseason.

The team returns 17 players, from last year’s squad, including 13 who saw a vast majority of playing time. Obviously the Mountain Hawks will be relying on Forrest once again, to lead the way on offense. However, he will have help pretty much all around him. The defense brings back a ton of experience, including sophomore GK, Will Smith.

With so much experience and talent, it’s safe to say that the Mountain Hawks have one goal this season, but the road won’t be easy with a challenging schedule ahead. The guys will take it one game at a time and hope at the end of the season, they will be hoisting a trophy.
